Online Dashboard for Community Housing Data Released
The Community Foundation of Jackson Hole announced that a new source for housing data is now available online. The Housing Dashboard was collaboratively created by community-invested partners and supported by the Foundation’s Housing Initiative to address community need for affordable and workforce housing.
The Housing Dashboard is part of the Teton Community Wellbeing Dashboard, a resource facilitated and stewarded by LegacyWorks Group in partnership with over 70 organizations in Teton County, WY.
Funded by the Community Foundation, the Housing Dashboard is a website and an online tool where users can explore interconnected data metrics that affect supply and demand of the housing market in Teton County. There are insights offered into the costs associated with affordable housing, including costs to build and sources of funding. Users can also interact with the data to look at past and present housing data and compare across metrics. The dashboard contains a page dedicated to housing resources as well.
Community partners participating in the Foundation’s Housing Solutions Initiative shared data and insights to make this Housing Dashboard possible. Other data sources include several local studies such as the Teton Region Housing Needs Assessment, as well as real estate, statewide housing information, and the current Housing Supply Plan. LegacyWorks Group assembled the Housing Dashboard and will steward the data. The group will continue to gather feedback and engage in cycles of continuous improvement, so that it remains a relevant tool to track and inform housing solutions. Community participation is encouraged, and feedback on user experience may be shared via this Feedback Form.
“It’s inspirational to see the Community Foundation’s dedication to improving housing accessibility through their innovative development of the housing dashboard. I applaud the hard work of Wendy Martinez, LegacyWorks, and all the community stakeholders that contributed to this important initiative. This tool not only highlights the challenges we face but also showcases the potential for change through informed, collaborative action. It’s a terrific resource for better understanding and addressing our housing needs. Teton Habitat is proud to have contributed to the effort,” remarked Kris Greenville, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Teton Area.
Laurie Andrews, President of the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole said, “The Housing Dashboard is the result of many partners who committed to hosting data in one place, available to all so that our community can feel informed about and participatory in affordable housing solutions. As we know from the recent closure of Teton Pass, our community is reliant on a workforce that commutes, and understanding the metrics helps us build an informed plan for future housing.”
The Community Foundation of Jackson Hole’s Housing Solutions Initiative convenes cross-sectoral community partners to cultivate partnerships, foster whole community understanding about the complexity of housing, and to help guide future collaborative housing solutions. The Housing Dashboard is part of this process. By sharing priority data, the community becomes better informed, and policymakers have a basis for future decisions about affordable housing.
